Kayla said it’s perfect even for those who don’t think they like salad, thanks to the addition of a slice of bread.

‘One thing that my grandparents taught me is that there are so many ways to use one ingredient, like tomatoes,’ Kayla posted on Instagram.

‘When they’re in season, my grandparents’ garden is overflowing with tomatoes, and every single one of our meals usually involves some kind of tomato dish, but that doesn’t mean we’re eating the same thing every night.’

One of Kayla’s favourite ways to use tomatoes is in this salad. She combines them with mozzarella, basil and a ‘simple dressing’.

‘I like to mix up some olive oil in a bowl with crushed garlic, balsamic vinegar and a little bit of salt – and you instantly have a DELICIOUS meal,’ Kayla said.

Kayla said tomatoes (pictured) can work with everything; the most important thing is you add herbs and spices to make them delicious (pictured coated in oregano, chilli, salt and pepper)

‘Warm the bread up and drizzle it with olive oil and salt… trust me, you’ll thank me later,’ she said.

If you want to make the salad for yourself, Kayla’s top tip is that you never forget to add ‘herbs and spices’.

‘Oregano, chilli, salt and pepper can totally transform a meal,’ she explained.

‘Yum, I make this a lot. A bit of red onion also works wonders in the salad,’ another added.

Previously, Kayla shared a look at a typical day on her plate.

She mainly follows a Mediterranean-style diet that is packed full of Greek foods from her heritage.

‘This means a wide variety of vegetable and fruit as snacks, and a good mix of vegetables, protein and carbohydrates in my meals,’ Kayla said.

A typical breakfast is lots of vegetables with toast, while lunch might be a quick tuna or tomato salad, and dinner is pasta dishes, salads, roasted vegetables and meat including skewers, baked chicken schnitzel or gyros (kebabs).

Kayla also said she enjoys Thai food, curries and noodle dishes at dinnertime, but always makes sure she has protein, carbohydrates and plenty of veg in every meal.
