Finks bikie clubhouse set alight in series of arson attacks

A Finks bikie clubhouse, a bodybuilding supplements store and a car were set alight in a series of arson attacks on Wednesday night which police believe could be linked.

The first incident occurred about 11pm when police were called to a fire at a bodybuilding supplements store on the Nepean Highway in Frankston.

About 10 minutes later, police were called to a car fire a short distance away on Brunel Road in Seaford.

Police were told two men with their faces covered were seen running away from the burning car into a reserve nearby. Officers searched the park, but didn't find anyone.

A crime scene was set up and an arson specialist called to examine the vehicle.

A few hours later, about 1.30am, emergency services were called to reports of an explosion and fire in Morialta Road in Cranbourne West.

When police arrived, they found the Finks bikie clubhousehad been extensively damaged by fire.

A police spokesman said it is believed no one was inside the property at the time.

Deputy Commissioner Wendy Steendam said investigators were looking at the possibility the three incidents were linked.

"There were a number of incidents at the clubhouse of one of the motorcycle gangs last night. There were a series of events we believe could be linked but it's early days and we are still investigating," she said.

Asked whether police were aware of any current issues with the Finks, Ms Steendam said police were always monitoring outlaw motorcycle gangs.

"We always have areas where we are involved with motorcycle gangs and we're certainly responding and dealing with them on an ongoing basis."
