Camilla was visiting the centre which provides services for young carers, supports those leaving care and provides respite care for children with disabilities.

As part of her visit, she took part in some arts and crafts sessions in the new sensory room, as well as meeting care workers and volunteer.

After watching young carer Connie, nine, have her nails painted different shades by a volunteer, the duchess said: ‘Oh my goodness, you’re having different colour on your nails – you’re going to be very, very beautiful by the end of the day.’

And it’s always been a charity the royals have been passionate about supporting, with Princess Diana and The Queen both taking a role in promoting the charity.

The Duchess of Cornwall was made President of Barnados in 2007, and in 2016 was made patron of the charity.
