Diner spots glaring Wetherspoon error that could leave customers out of pocket

An eagle-eyed customer spotted this glaring error on a Wetherspoon pub menu that could leave some punters out of pocket.

Paul Kendrick visited the Duke of Wellington, in Minehead, Somerset, on Sunday afternoon for some food and drinks.

But he was left baffled after encountering this error as he scanned the chain pub's menu, SomersetLive reported .

The diner took to Twitter and shared a photo with the caption: "Wetherspoons (in) Minehead. Thieving b******s.

"I'll buy mine separately thanks."

In the photo, the pub chain offers diners 'Two meals for £9.89' section.

This clearly implies that hungry diners can save some hard-earned cash with the deal.

But he noticed customers will only save money if they buy two British steak and kidney pies – saving customers the significant sum of £1.61.

Two separate dishes of British beef chilli with small fish and chips for example would come to £8.20.

Alternatively, you could buy a British steak and kidney pie and a creamy mushroom risotto for £9.85 – just 4p off the £9.89 deal.

The deal is also available on the Wetherspoon app but diners are not charged extra if their food is below £9.89.

A spokesman for J D Wetherspoon said they are in the process of fixing this "anomaly".

He said: "We are grateful for the customer and Somerset Live for bringing this to our attention.

"This is an anomaly and we will address this.

"The tills at the pub will only charge the lower individual prices to give the best deal, even if two meals are ordered."
