Curvy influencers detail how to replicate favorite celebrity styles

Plus and mid-size fashion influencers reveal how to replicate outfits worn by celebrity favorites Emily Ratajkowski and Julia Fox – no matter your figure

  • Mid-size and plus-size influencers spill how to dress like your favorite superstar
  • These TikTok and Instagram content creators embrace trends at any size
  • Many have gone viral for their trendy takes on sample-sized dressing

Recreating outfits worn by celebrities like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner can seem daunting for people who aren’t the exact same size as their favorite superstars.

But plenty of high-profile influencers are proving it’s entirely possible — and can be super chic with the right outfit formula.

FEMAIL have spoken to some of these mid-size and plus-size influencers who channel your favorite models, actresses, or musicians on social media.

Whether you want to don Julia Fox’s wild, barely there bralettes or are looking to master model off-duty style like Emily Ratajkowski, these influencers’ sartorial takes offer definitive proof that it’s easy for anyone at any size to embrace dressing like an A-lister.

New York City-based influencer Katie Sturino, 42, was one of the first to start recreating celebrity looks with plus-size pieces through her wildly popular #SuperSizeTheLook, where she reimagines outfits from Jennifer Lawrence, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and more.

The body-positive blogger went viral for trying out Meghan Markle’s looks as part of content for her former blog, The 12ish Style.

The Body Talk author regularly tells her followers: ‘Remember, it’s not about who wore it better, because that just brings us down.’

Katie told DailyMail.com the first look she recreated was one of Kendall Jenner’s and she ‘got so many comments and direct messages from people saying they loved seeing this celebrity look on a larger body.’

‘I immediately knew the #SuperSizeTheLook concept resonated with my audience, as it’s important to show that these celebrity looks can be worn by women of all sizes,’ the Megababe founder continued.

Since starting the ‘Super Size The Look’ hashtag, Katie’s followers have tagged her in their own recreations.

Katie says it’s not always easy to reimagine certain celebrity looks, especially since she can ‘rarely find the exact same piece’ in her size. Instead, she looks to brands like J. Crew, Never Fully Dressed and Dia & Co. for more classic options.

The body acceptance advocate thinks current trends are hard to recreate, including finding micro miniskirts and bustiers in her size.

While Katie tries to recreate the look as close as possible without changing the shape or color, she advises that her followers don’t have to stick to that formula and instead can ‘recreate the essence of a celebrity look with a similar style in different colors or designs.’

‘Many people applauded me for wearing something outside of the norm, which made themselves feel more confident and beautiful in their own skin,’ Ella says

Ella wanted to recreate Julia Fox’s looks ‘because she was breaking down barriers in the fashion industry and wearing unique looks’

New York City-based Gabriella ‘Ella’ Athena Halikas is a curve model who’s famous not only for her dupes, but also for her powerful captions.

Ella notably rocked black underwear with a denim blazer and boots to channel her inner Julia Fox during a trip to the grocery store and described the experience as liberating.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model told her followers, ‘Thick girls can rock this fit too,’ before continuing, ‘For so long now more revealing outfits were only accepted to be worn by thinner women, whereas when a curvier woman wears the exact same fit, it’s too “inappropriate,” “too scandalous,” and “too sexual,”‘ calling the previous experience ‘a bunch of bulls**t.’

Ella — who also recreated a scantily-clad Kim Kardashian gold swimsuit style, Bella Hadid’s lingerie and a Victoria’s Secret Angel walk — remembered back in middle and high school when she would ‘wear the EXACT same outfit as a smaller friend,’ but still get in trouble with the school for breaking dress code because it was deemed inappropriate or ‘too revealing just because I had bigger boobs.’

The influencer ended her caption by saying the reenactment helped her break ‘through society’s hypocritical standards and expectations.’

‘I used to be so afraid of wearing some of these clothes when I was younger,’ Ella admitted to DailyMail.com. She’s pictured left as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, similar to Behati Prinsloo’s look on the right

Ella believes recreating celebrity looks has helped her embrace trends that make her feel ‘sexy and confident’

Ella told DailyMail.com she now approached fashion differently and didn’t take it so seriously.

‘I wear what I want, when I want, despite what others may think and say,’ Ella declared, which led to people telling her she was ‘overdressed or ‘being too extra.’

‘This recreation series encourages me to stand out and be bold, regardless of what society deems to be acceptable or appropriate,’ Ella continued.

While Ella has dealt with a few haters, for the most part the reaction was positive and empowering, with people telling her it showed they could ‘rock the same outfit that their thinner counterparts are wearing.’

‘There are so many trends that can be intimidating to try out, especially living in a curvier body, but that’s why I’m always up for the challenge and push myself to go outside the norms,’ Ella said, naming low rise pants as a trend that used to scare her.

‘I felt that you could only pull that look off if you were skinny, and had zero belly fat. Well, I was wrong. You don’t need to have a certain body shape or size to “pull off” any outfit.’

Now, Ella confidently embraces trends like miniskirts, baggy jeans, and crop tops that make her feel sexy and confident.

‘I used to be so afraid of wearing some of these clothes when I was younger, that now I’m so grateful I get to show others that you can rock these outfits at any size,’ Ella said.

Ella urges other women to ‘wear that outfit you’ve always wanted to try out’ and try ‘a different style of clothing that you used to think only a certain body type could pull off,’ calling the experience ‘liberating and fun.’

Ella found many pieces of her outfits on Amazon or at thrift stores because she wanted to prove ‘you don’t always need a celebrity designer look to pull off an outfit and can make more of a DIY, inexpensive look that’s just as good and more reasonable.’

She quickly realized how difficult it was to find the items she wanted in a size 14, explaining that most stores only had sample sizes and ended around an 8 or 10, so she had to get creative. Ella recommends Asos, Meshki, Tiger Mist, Zara and Revolve for more inclusive sizing.

And if you’re not quite sure about rocking edgy trends like low-rise jeans yet, Ella says, ‘Start slow and build your confidence,’ adding, ‘Start by wearing them with a longer shirt or sweater, then tuck one side in so that you can still see it’s low rise but you’re not showing your whole torso.’

‘The more you wear them and feel good about wearing them, you may start to incorporate different length shirts and crop tops that could look super cute with them too!’ Ella advised.

Australian TikTok content creator Casee Brimblecombe shows how to style yourself like a celeb if you have a bigger chest, wearing outfits from stores like Revolve, Showpo, and Princess Polly in a medium that are flattering on a larger bust.

Casee has been ‘grateful to reach the women the content is directed towards,’ although she’s found ‘when videos go viral, sometimes there are incredibly sexist and misogynistic comments.’

The comments won’t stop her from sharing her content, because she knows ‘how many women it helps.’

‘I wish I had an account like mine when I was a teen or in my early 20s,’ Casee, 28, said.

‘We simply want to exist in our bodies without feeling social pressure to cover up. This is the message I will always share regardless of any backlash.’

Casee enjoys recreating Hailey Bieber and Swedish fashion designer Matilda Djerf’s outfits specifically, because ‘a lot of the pieces and styles they wear end up trending so the styles are available in all different stores at all different price points.’

‘I think with a few tweaks, any outfit can work for us bigger busted ladies if you rock it with confidence,’ the influencer said.

Despite embracing celebrity style, Casee tries to stay away from trends that might not be the most comfortable or flattering.

‘I personally don’t jump on every trend,’ the influencer said.

Instead, she’s ‘all for leaning into the specific trends you absolutely love that make you feel good and that you’ll wear for years to come.’
