Cord Jefferson thanked his therapist while accepting his award at the Emmys 2020.
“Thank you to my therapist Ian,” Jefferson said after winning for Oustanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special.
The TV writer explained how far he’s come since seeking professional help.
“I am a different man than I was two years ago,” he said, adding, “You have changed my life in many ways.”
Jefferson also opened up his views on how mental health should be handled in the United States.
“Therapy should be free in this country,” he said.
Jefferson shared the Emmy win with Damon Lindelof for their work on an episode of “The Watchmen.”
