When is the Arkle Chase, what’s the distance and which sort of horses can enter?

The 2019 Arkle Challenge Trophy will take place on Tuesday, March 12 at 14:10 (2:10pm).

It’s a Grade 1 National Hunt novices’ chase, run over two miles, for horses aged five years and upwards.

However, many contenders are yet to run this season.

The brilliant Footpad (5-6f) emerged victorious under Ruby Walsh for trainer Willie Mullins.

He bolted up by 14 lengths with Brain Power (14-1) in second.

Which jockeys and trainers have won the Arkle the most? 

Nicky Henderson is the leading trainer having won the race SIX times.

Henderson has won the race with Remittance Man (1991), Travado (1993), Tiutchev (2000), Sprinter Sacre (2012), Simonsig (2013) and Altior (2017).

Jockeys Barry Geraghty and Ruby Walsh have both won the race four times.
