So to help make sense of them, FEMAIL’s resident zodiac expert, Australian astrologer Kelli Fox, has revealed the biggest fears of every star sign, from humiliation and betrayal to abandonment and being stuck in a rut.
She has also shared advice on how to overcome your deepest insecurities.

ARIES (MAR 21 – APR 19) – SUBJUGATION
Trailblazing Aries loves to lead from the front, so the thought of being dominated by someone or something scares them.
According to Ms Fox, Aries often challenges authority figures and can take even the most innocent of questions as a personal attack.
‘They can overcome this fear by realising not everyone sees life as a win or lose situation. Aries would be well served to stop and examine whether the fight is worth the effort it will take,’ she said.
‘The only way someone can truly dominate the Ram is if the Ram allows it to happen – not every situation needs to become a competition!’
TAURUS (APR 20 – MAY 20) – DEPRIVATION
Materialistic Taurus sows and gathers possessions and strives to hold onto every hard-earned penny.
‘Taurus spends energy in pursuit of physical things, and makes decisions based on the certainty of reward. Because of this, the Bull fears losing what they have earned.
‘They would rather do something they hate for a living, stay in a career rut or endure a bad relationship than face either uncertainty or material loss.
‘Taurus can overcome this fear by accepting that nothing is permanent, and recognising that temporary discomfort is not a sign of failure or a personal defect.’

GEMINI (MAY 21 – JUN 20) – BEING IGNORED
Gemini gathers information and shares it by connecting people with data and ideas.
According to Ms Fox, they absorb knowledge effortlessly and love to have others listen to them.
‘Because of this, being out of the loop or ignored makes them feel they have no place in the world, a reality they dread more than anything.
‘Gemini can overcome this fear by learning to be more selective about the information they seek and the communication they engage in.’
CANCER (JUN 21 – JUL 22) – ABANDONMENT
Cancer brings people together in closely-knit groups where everyone has some form of common ground.
Ms Fox explained that Cancer loves to nurture people and connections, a trait which secures their own identity in any relationship while keeping it safe from outside influence and attack.
‘Without relationships to channel their energy into, Cancer feels adrift, so being abandoned or left behind terrifies them.
‘They can overcome this fear by creating a distinct identity that doesn’t require acceptance in a relationship or a group, so even if they think their collective security is threatened, they know they are still worthy of love and inclusion.’

LEO (JUL 23 – AUG 22) – HUMILIATION
Show-stopping Leo distinguishes themselves from all other humans on the planet and longs to be adored for it.
Leo tends to be popular for that reason, but they are also proud individuals focused on maintaining a positive public face.
‘Because of their love for theatrics and show, Leo is especially devastated by humiliation,’ Ms Fox said.
‘They will go to great lengths to avoid situations in which they’re less than the best, avoiding challenges and curbing their aspirations accordingly.
‘Leo can overcome this fear by realising the world has a short memory, and that no one is looking at them as much as they’re looking at themselves – their determination, generosity and radiance is part of what makes them great.’

‘Even if acts of god or other factors get in the way of perfection, they can’t forgive themselves if their own shortcomings cause the problem.
‘Virgo can overcome this by realising that no one is perfect, but their quest to become so, and the courage to try again is what makes them universally needed.’

LIBRA (SEPT 23 – OCT 22) – LONELINESS
Harmony-loving Libra brings people together in peace and never fails to share their good times or what they have with others.
According to Ms Fox, Libra feels most secure when they have someone or something else to focus on, and are inclined to put up with bad people, toxic relationships and negative situations simply to avoid the isolation they fear.
‘Without a companion, Libra can feel they have no reason for being.
‘They can overcome this fear by finding security and company within themselves, and realising they are self-sufficient enough to wait for the right person who will love them just as they are.’
SCORPIO (OCT 23 – NOV 21) – BETRAYAL
Sensual, serious Scorpio craves intimacy and will sacrifice almost everything to gain more of it.
Ms Fox said Scorpio is willing to invest in people if they see a potential benefit, and will leave themselves in a vulnerable position only if there is a possibility of gaining more than they already have.
‘Thus, they are terrified of being betrayed. They may be suspicious of others or try to get the upper hand through manipulation or control.
‘Scorpio can overcome this fear by learning that trust and love are not finite resources, and as long as they feel secure they can allow themselves to trust and love again.’
SAGITTARIUS (NOV 22 – DEC 21) – BEING STUCK
Wandering Sagittarius longs to explore and experience the world.
‘Because of the seemingly endless possibilities of modern life, they can’t commit to one situation, not without experiencing more first,’ Ms Fox said.
‘This makes being stuck in a place, job, religion or relationship terrifying to them, because it means no room for adventure.
‘Sagittarius avoid commitment for this reason. They can overcome their fears by realising sometimes, having a place to land also means having a dock from which to set sail.’

‘However, they must work within a community in order to achieve standing in society; this makes prominence, prestige and position crucial to them, and having a bad reputation is like having their passport to success permanently revoked.
‘Capricorn can overcome this fear by accepting success might mean ruffling some feathers and relying on their sense of commitment to show others that their path was the right one all along.’
AQUARIUS (JAN 20 – FEB 18) – MEDIOCRITY
Aquarius is focused on the new, the brilliant and the innovative.
Ms Fox said they want to share their ideas and inventions with the world in order to improve it and mold it into the utopia they envision.
‘They fear the helplessness of watching the world sleepwalk into its own destruction, as well as being afraid of mediocrity in themselves – if all they can do is crawl on a treadmill, they may as well not exist.
‘Being unique and different at all costs seems like a way to avoid this, but accepting that some customs are not worth reinventing will free the Water-Bearer to worry about the bigger things that really need changing in this world.’

Ethereal Pisces is spiritual, receptive and imaginative.

‘They can overcome this fear by realising that while they need to recognise reality for what it is, they can still march to the beat of their own drum.’
