You might already use face wash, but cleansers take your skincare that step further, ridding your face of all that dirt, debris and nasty stuff – basically, if you wear make-up, you need a cleanser.

A lot of people tend to use cleanser following face wash for a deep clean as part of both their morning and evening rituals, however to get the best out of both, you might want to analyse your skin type first.

Those with dry skin might benefit more from using oily or balmy products, whereas oily skin works well with natural-based cleansers. But a lot of cleansers are made for all skin types, so you don't always have to worry about specifics.

Whether you want a skin-brightening saviour or a deep-cleansing gem, we've found the best cleansers to buy now and we've even reviewed a few too. Let's get that skin glowing!

1. We tested: Herbal Essentials Miracle Cleanser

  • Herbal Essentials Miracle Cleanser, £8 from Wolf&Badger – buy here

Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge is reportedly a big fan of the Herbal Essentials Miracle Cleanser – and we can see why.

With ingredients such as sunflower oil, lemongrass and glycerine, this cleanser smells lovely and fresh and leaves your skin feeling clean and hydrated.

We tested it out (and forced our non-cleansing boyfriend to try it too), and noticed an immediate difference in the brightness of our complexion.

And we can honestly say we've never seen our boyfriend's skin looking so radiant.

It's vegan, recyclable and made from 99% natural ingredients which we love too.

2. We tested: The INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm

  • The INKEY List Oat Cleansing Balm, £9.99 from Lookfantastic – buy here

Looking for something that leaves your skin silky soft? The INKEY List's Oat Cleansing Balm might just be your match.

Rich in antioxidants, this cleanser incorporates a 3 per cent concentration of Oat Kernel Oil to clear your pores, lessening blackheads and it promises to leave your skin irritation-free but always fresh.

For under £10, it's a cleanser that we are in fact, obsessed with. Ever since buying it, we haven't looked back as it leaves your skin feeling so supple and soft.

The texture of it is nothing like other facial cleansers that we've used in the past as it's a balmy, moisturising formula that feels gentle, natural and removes make-up really easily.

Sometimes, we now use it as a make-up remover and face wash all in one because it's expert at melting away make-up, leaving you with a fresh complexion that feels squeaky clean.

As a sufferer of dry skin, we were so happy to find The Inkey List's cleanser.

3. We tested: Yuzu and Ginger Cleansing Sorbet

  • ESPA Yuzu and Ginger Cleansing Sorbet, £40 from ESPA – buy here

This cleansing sorbet is a new product from ESPA's Active Nutrients Collection and is now our go-to cleanser.

Made with Yuzu oil, ginger, mango-derived cleansing agents and more delicious-sounding ingredients, this cleanser smells so divine we actually felt tempted to eat it.

You apply the balm to dry skin, before mixing it with water to easily wipe away your makeup and impurities.

It looks, feels and smells like a premium product, and we found it left our skin feeling fresh, moisturised and radiant.

We actually look forward to cleansing our face with this product, which is something we'd never thought we'd say.

It comes with a lovely muslin facecloth too. Love.

4. We tested: Aesop Fabulous Facial Cleanser

  • Aesop Fabulous Facial Cleanser, £35 from CultBeauty – buy here

Aesop products always double as chic bathroom ornaments, plus, as Margot Robbie once said, "Everything from Aesop smells so good."

This olive oil and aloe vera-based cleanser comes in a 200ml bottle and works well for both sensitive and acne-prone skin.

We tested it out to see if it's worth the £35 price-tag. After instantly displaying it in our bathroom, we used a small amount following the removal of our make-up with a reusable cotton pad.

And you definitely only need a small amount of this gel formula to properly clean your face, which means it'll last a few months.

From the sophisticated floral scent to the soft cleanse it gives you, Aesop's facial cleanser is definitely a favourite and frankly, we see an expensive habit coming on – for a deeply-cleansed feel that is gentle and leaves your face smelling fabulous, this one's for you.

5. We tested: Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Deep Pore Cleanser

  • Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Deep Pore Cleanser, £26 from Revolve – buy here

Twin sisters Emily and Sarah Hamilton are the brains behind Sand & Sky, the brand that made that iconic clay mask. Now, there's a cleanser in the same range.

The Australian Pink Clay Deep Pore Cleanser is for everyday use, using a 4-in-1 purifying gel that clears your pores and gently exfoliates your skin, whilst locking in moisture at the same time.

After using it for three days, we're already obsessed. The gel is full of little, nutrient-rich clay bits which soften your skin so well, leaving it feeling like you've moisturised after just cleansing your face.

You only need to use a very small amount which suggests this will last for a while too, especially as it comes in a generous 120ml tube.

As we suffer from dry skin, this has become a cult favourite in our skincare regime for hydrating and refreshing our complexion.

6. We tested: Vitamin Injections London C The Difference Cleanser

  • C The Difference Cleanser, £29 from Vitamin Injections London – buy here

Vitamin Injections London (VIL) strives to "purify your complexion and give it the luminosity it longs for" with their range of boosting skincare products.

And the C The Difference Cleanser couldn't represent the brand better, using gentle exfoliators Alpha Lipoic Acid and Papaya Enzymes, as well as Vitamin C to brighten up your face.

As the gel, jelly-like formula spreads a lot over your skin, you only need a small amount every time you cleanse which means the 50ml bottle is sure to last a while.

It's safe to say that we're in love with this vegan gem as it not only feels really natural, it also gives you a squeaky-clean feel that's nourishing rather than stripping.

Plus, we love the citrus scent and misty glass bottle.

This product acted as our introduction to VIL which has left us feeling more-than confident in the expert quality of their products.

7. Paula's Choice Clear Cleanser

  • Paula's Choice Clear Cleanser, £5 from CultBeauty – buy here

So many skincare influencers swear by Paula's Choice, so we had to include their really affordable Clear Cleanser on our list.

If your skin feels prone to acne and blocked pores, then this formula of salicylic acid, cleansing agents and hydrators is sure to be your next staple.

You can buy 30ml for just a fiver, then when you fall in love with it, you can size up with the 177ml for £17. One happy customer writes, "My skin feels fresher and tighter as a result of using this."

8. Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser

  • Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser by Tata Harper, £66 from SpaceNK – buy here

Tata Harper's Purifying Cleanser is part of supermodel Jourdan Dunn's daily skincare ritual. Of course, it made our top ten.

The formula's light foaming sugars give you a gentle cleanse, enriched with pomegranate and papaya enzymes to lift pore impurities, as well as broccoli extract which boosts the skin's enzyme protection and balances oil production.

It might be £66, but Tata Harper's Purifying Cleanser apparently leaves your complexion smooth, soft and balanced, and helps protect you from environmental ageing.

9. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

  • Milky Jelly Cleanser, £15 from Glossier – buy here

One of Glossier's best-sellers, the Milky Jelly Cleanser is pH-Balanced and packed with five skin conditioners , which should definitely be enough for silky soft skin.

Among the more-than satisfied customers, one said, "This cleanser is perfect! The smell is great, the fact that it is creamy and non-drying is fantastic, and it has really helped to clear up my skin."

As some of the cleansing agents can also be found in contact lens solution cleaner, you can count on this for avoiding any eye irritation too. Always a plus.

10. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

  • CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, £9.49 from Amazon – buy here

If you haven't heard of CaraVe yet, we'll happily take the glory of introducing it to you. It's a dermatologist-approved favourite in the skincare world.

11. The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

  • Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, £11 from The Body Shop – buy here

Described by the brand as a "rich cleansing butter", this helps melt away your make-up and any stubborn grime, leaving you all fresh faced and lovely.
