Barack Obama, Ken Burns, More Honor Late Anthony Bourdain in New Book

Nearly a year after Anthony Bourdain’s death by suicide, the late chef is being remembered by a bevy of celebrity friends in a new book. The tome, which is fittingly called Anthony Bourdain Remembered, features tributes from pals including former president Barack Obama, filmmaker Ken Burns and more.

The collection of quotes and photographs was put together by CNN – the network that aired Bourdain’s hit show, Parts Unknown – and was initially intended as a memento for his young daughter, Ariane, who is now 12.

“Our relationship with Anthony Bourdain began in 2012 and in that time Tony became a dear friend and colleague who enriched CNN with his brilliant storytelling, distinctive voice, and refreshing perspective on culture at home and abroad,” executive vice president of talent and program development at CNN Worldwide, Amy Entelis, said in a statement, according to Delish. “As an expression of our gratitude, we wanted to create this remembrance for his family and all those whose lives he touched.”

The book, which was released on Tuesday, May 28, is described on Amazon as a work that “captures Bourdain’s inimitable spirit and passion in the words of his devoted fans as well as some of his closest friends and colleagues.”

The revered culinary figure died in France in June 2018. At the time of his death, he was shooting an episode of Parts Unknown with friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert, who found the Kitchen Confidential author unresponsive in his hotel room.
