IT pays to have pals – and not just for the friendship, nights out and shoulders to cry on.
You could also be bagging extra cash just by referring your buddies to brands you love.
Refer-a-friend deals offered by cashback websites, energy providers and other retailers can boost your income by up to £300 a year for free, reports claim.
Here’s how to get started on stashing up savings from your own recommendations.
BANK ON IT: Nationwide pays £100 to both the existing customer and to referrals who switch their main current account to the building society — and each customer can refer up to five friends per year. That’s up to £500 added to your account.
HSBC Premier customers also get £100 each for referrals, with no cap on how many. And TSB has recently increased its refer-a-friend bonus from £75 to £100 for each person who signs up — and your friend gets £100 too.
SAVING: £100 per friend
RIDE ON THE MONEY: If you live in a city served by taxi app Uber, you can nab £3 each for you and a friend if they sign up. You can also earn free food via sister app Uber Eats — if you refer a friend you will both get £15 credit toward a £20 order. Car club Zipcar also offers £25 driving credit for every friend who becomes a member.
SAVING: At least £3 per friend
EXTRA CASHBACK: Topcashback.co.uk gives users money back if they buy a product or service via its website. But it also pays out for referring pals. Members get at least a £7.50 referral bonus once your pal has earned more than £10 cashback, plus pals get a £5 Amazon eGift card.
SAVING: £7.50-plus per referral.
PACKAGE POUNDS: Sky TV and Virgin Media reward referrals. Sky offers a £100 prepaid Mastercard for you and a pal when they sign up, and Virgin Media gives up to £50 off for both parties when a friend joins a mobile plan.
