Ariana Grande Cried While Performing a Moving Tribute to "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin

On Thursday, Aretha Franklin, the “Queen of Soul,” passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer. While promoting her new album, “Sweetener,” Ariana Grande and The Roots gave a moving tribute to Aretha on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Ariana’s rendition of Aretha’s song “Natural Woman” was so emotional, it literally brought Ariana to tears.

When Aretha’s family confirmed her passing early Thursday morning, Ariana posted a photo she previously took with Aretha and captioned it with a bunch of heart emojis to show her love and support.

Ariana told Jimmy, “I met her a few times. We sang at the White House and she was so sweet, she was so cute.” Ariana also said, “It’s an honor to have met her.”

Ariana also posted a video of Aretha singing “I Say a Little Prayer” and wrote, “Forever.”
