Jennifer Lopez and Kate Middleton couldn’t be more different. Of course they’re both royals in their own right, but it’s hard to imagine Middleton using a bedazzled Starbucks cup or Lopez wearing a padded headband. Apparently when it comes to bags, though, they have something in common.
Jennifer Lopez is the new face of Coach, which means her accessory game has never been more accessible. It also means she’s wearing sweatshirts with Barbara Streisand’s face on it and we are so here for that too. But back to the accessories. In one of her first Coach campaign photos she was wearing three bags at once. Just the other month, she was spotted with a $350 Coach Tabby Shoulder Bag. Last week she wore the Coach Willis Top Handle Bag, which retails for just under $500.
And while we couldn’t help but notice the still-accessible price point, we also couldn’t help but realize the top-handle bag was reminiscent of Kate Middleton’s signature look. Middleton is known for wearing bags that are just big enough, with a handle that can be wrapped around her gloved wrist. She’s been spotted wearing this bag silhouette at least once a month. Although, of course the duchess’s top handle bags are more likely to be Chanel than Coach.
But still, if you’re interested in switching up your bag game but aren’t quite ready to invest in the throwback baguette trend, a top handle bag is the perfect option. It’s just different enough. And if you buy Lopez’s style from Coach, at least you know you have something in common with American royalty. We wouldn’t be surprised if the bag ended up in Middleton’s collection as well. You just won’t see Middleton on the 6 with hers.
