Aldi launch free wine course so you can get an Aldiploma

Aldi is well-known for its wine.

The supermarket has a load of award-winning tipples on its shelves and they recently launched a premium wine collection called the Classic Iconic Range.

But all those red, white and rose bottles and their varying medals can get quite confusing.

So to help, Aldi has launched a free wine course online they're calling an Aldiploma.

  • Aldi shoppers rave about £2.99 autumnal candles that look like Yankee Candle

This is because 57% of Brits feel daunted when buying a bottle of wine, while a whopping 91% of the nation’s wine drinkers admit to bluffing about their wine knowledge to impress.

Aldi's new online course is aimed at helping wannabe wine buffs discover the best way to taste wine, as well as get to grips with their red and white grape varieties and learn to pick their favourites by region.

The Aldiploma is made up of six online modules and video tutorials with wine expert, Mistress of Wine, Sam Caporn.

She said: "As one of only 382 Masters of Wine worldwide, it’s fair to say I know my Malbec from my Merlot – but that hasn’t always been the case! Rewind twenty years and I was just a wine lover with none of the technical knowledge I have now.

"Aldi is known for its affordable, great quality wines so this creates the perfect platform to help consumers try new things and gain the perfect introduction to the world of wine."

While Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, Julie Ashfield, added: "The wonderful world of wine should be enjoyed by all and at Aldi we believe that visiting the wine aisle should be an enjoyable experience.

"The Aldiploma provides a unique and fun approach to learning about wine, giving customers the confidence they want when selecting a wine and debunking any complicated wine terminology."

The Aldiploma is available to download for free via Aldi.co.uk/Aldiploma with those taking up the training having the option to buy an accompanying case featuring a selection of Aldi’s award-winning wines.
