Adorable chihuahua wows Crufts 2022 fans with choreographed Pokémon battle

A cute chihuahua called Sophie stole the show at Crufts 2022 after performing an elaborate Pokémon routine.

The world-famous dog show, hosted every year by The Kennel Club, was held at NEC Birmingham between March 10 and 13.

In the clip, which was aired on Channel 4, Sophie and her trainer Jenny perform tricks to the Pokémon theme song.

The little dog darts between her owner's legs and is "battling" Pokémon props, including a cardboard Charizard she flattens.

Sophie the chihuahua also performs kicks off a soft toy Bulbasaur.

Finally, she finishes by hopping around a model of a Pokéball as the theme song comes to an end and the crowd cheers.

The video went viral on Twitter when it was shared by comic book writer Hamish Steele, with more than 18,000 views.

One user joked: "Sat on Charizard no problem but struggled a bit with a Bulbasaur. What Pokémon type is this?"

"KICKFLIP OFF BULBASAUR?!" tweeted a second person.

A third wrote: "THE JUMP KICKS?!!??"

It comes after another clever chihuahua impressed fans with a Swan Lake dance.

Despite getting a lot of attention online, Sophie and Jenny did not win the competition and left with 22.63 points.

Baxer the flat-coated retriever was named the overall Crufts champion after first winning first place in the gun dog category, and the result left his trainer Patrick O’Ware in tears.

He said: "It's been amazing to go from winning the breed, to now winning Best in Show.

"It's really a dream come true! I've been going to Crufts ever since I was young and it's always been a dream to show my own dog in the main ring and win!

"Baxer never lets me down, he's always happy and energetic. He’s a fantastic dog!

"I don’t have any words, it’s just amazing, and I’m really proud of him. He’s a true credit to his breed."
