Abby Lee Miller Once Faked An Engagement To Make Her Mom Happy

  • Abby Lee Miller, star of Dance Moms, seems single on- and off-screen, but fans still wonder if she’s married.
  • As it turns out, she has a pretty good reason behind her single status.
  • Though Abby has never tied the knot, she did once stage an engagement.

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller has spent her entire adult life coaching young dancers, who often consider her a mother figure. Over the years, she’s weathered six and a half seasons of reality TV, a stint in prison, and most recently, a cancer diagnosis all while seemingly single. Despite not having a romantic partner by her side—both on- and off-screen—fans still wonder: is Abby Lee Miller married?

Turns out, the answer is a big ole nope. In a 2017 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Abby Lee revealed that she has stayed single because she simply hasn’t met anyone worthy of a relationship. “My problem is my standards are too high,” she explained. “I have really high standards and in my mind, I’m young—I’m like 22, 23, 24… that’s, like, the age.”

However, in the months before her mother, Maryen Lorrain Miller, died from colon cancer in 2014, Abby staged a fake engagement to an actor named Michael Padula, even posting on Instagram about it.

“My mother was very ill, and she just passed away,” she said in an interview about the fake engagement. “I just think it was a comfort thing for her to know there was somebody.”

That said, she hadn’t ruled out the possibility of dating again and is still looking for “The One” because the idea of a relationship sounds good on paper.

“I make decisions all day, so it’s nice for a woman like me to go to dinner and have the man take the menu and say, ‘Let me order,'” she told ET. “Other women would be offended by that but I’m like, ‘Good. Because I can’t make one more decision today.’ I want someone to rub my feet without being asked.”
