Zac Efron Admits His ‘Baywatch’ Body Was ‘Too Big’ and ‘Unrealistic’

Don’t try this at home. Standing side-by-side with a new wax figure modeled after his appearance in Baywatch, Zac Efron said he got “too big” for the 2017 film.

Efron, 31, came face to face with his new Madame Tussauds figure on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, April 30. “Oh, s–t!” the Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile star exclaimed. “Whoa. Oh, whoa. Wow. Weird. Whoever did this, I’m very impressed and scared.”

“They did a good job,” he added. “It’s a little bigger than me.”

Efron then warned viewers not to idolize his statuesque physique. “That’s too big,” he said. “For guys, that’s unrealistic. I’m telling you. I got very big and buff for that movie, but I don’t want people to think that’s the best way to be. Like, be your size. … I don’t want to glamorize this.”

DeGeneres, 61, pointed out a vein on the wax figure’s six-pack, and Efron pulled up his shirt to confirm the verisimilitude. “That’s real,” he said, revealing his own abs. “And the arm vein. The veins are, like, real popping.”

Earlier in the episode, DeGeneres showed a photo of Efron’s previous Madame Tussauds wax figure, a much lankier, mop-topped version reminiscent of his High School Musical days. “I don’t like it,” Efron said of the previous figure.

“Madame Tussauds really improved it,” the talk show host replied.

Alexandra Daddario, one of Efron’s Baywatch costars, gave fans a firsthand perspective of touching the actor’s six-pack. “Early on, I had to do a scene where I had to flirt with him and touch his waist,” the 33-year-old told Entertainment Tonight Opens a New Window. in 2017. “I wasn’t prepared. It was like an animalistic shock went through me. I don’t know. He’s, like, not human. He’s like something Michelangelo carved. I’ve never seen a man that looks like him. It’s incredible.”
