Why Mindy Kaling Isn't Talking 'to Anyone' About Daughter's Paternity Yet

Her lips are sealed! Mindy Kaling has no immediate plans to reveal her 17-month-old daughter Katherine’s father.

“My feeling is that, until I speak to my daughter about that, I’m not going to talk to anyone else about it,” the Late Night star, 39, told The New York Times in a Friday, June 7, interview.

The actress gave birth to her baby girl in December 2017, four months after announcing she was expecting. “It’s so unknown to me,” Kaling admitted of her pregnancy on NBC’s Sunday Today With Willie Geist in August 2017. “I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where I’m like, ‘OK, it’s out of my hands,’ which is kind of a fun feeling.”

The Why Not Me? author told Us Weekly exclusively last month how she balances her daughter with her successful career. “I’m in a privileged position because I have help, you know, and I know that’s not the case for all American women,” the Office alum told Us in May. “I’m a single mom, but I have the means to have help. … It is what it is!”

She went on to tell Us about hopefully inspiring her little one with her work ethic. “If I can set that example for her to work hard like I did, I think I’d be happy,” the Massachusetts native said. “I work incredibly hard. It’s like, work hard, play hard. I definitely work more hard than I play hard. And so I think that’s not bad. I think that I have never gotten anything easily and that’s OK!”

Her costar Reid Scott gushed about her motherhood skills to Us exclusively that same month. “She’s always so chilled out and zenned out,” the actor, 41, said. “I don’t know what’s going on inside there, but I want some.”
