Why Alec Baldwin Insisted on a Live-In Nanny

Plain and simple: Alec Baldwin likes spending time with his wife, Hilaria. But with four kids under the age of 5, that can be tricky. According to the 60-year-old Oscar winner, they want their mom’s attention 24/7.

“Hilaria didn’t want any full-time help. She certainly didn’t want any live-in help. And I had to insist,” Alec told Us Weekly at Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day in New York City on Tuesday, September 11. It had nothing to do with the yoga instructor’s abilities to juggle four littles ones.

The 30 Rock alum admitted to Us that he missed being able to bring Hilaria, 34, with him as his to date to parties and events. “I got so sick of taking my friends,” Alec revealed. “I said to my wife, ‘You’re still my girlfriend and I want you to go with me.’ So now we have people help us. We’ve got a good system.”

The couple are parents of Carmen, 5, Rafael, 3, Leonardo, 2, and 3-month-old Romeo. Alec shares daughter Ireland Basinger-Baldwin, 22, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger

“Everything with my kids is, ‘Mommy, Mommy, Mommy,” the SNL guest star joked on Tuesday. “I always tell people with my kids, I’m doing very well with them till my wife walks into the room and then I’m invisible.”

Alec and the Spanish-born beauty celebrated six-years of wedded bliss in June. Quipped the actor: “Every day I think . . . what is my strategy overall to keep distracting her from the fact that she can do a lot better than me?”
