Whitney Port Admits She Had Motherhood Doubts After Difficult First Year

A tough time. Whitney Port experienced moments of doubt after welcoming her son, Sonny, in 2017.

“[Motherhood] is very hard at the beginning, but I think that that is a phase,” the Hills alum, 34, told Us Weekly exclusively at the recent Honor MD launch party. “ Then, I think it becomes amazing. When I was in my first year or year and a half, I was like, ‘Should I have done this?’ And now I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m so happy that I did it.’ It was only a little portion of time that was crappy and hard.”

The reality star told Us that breast-feeding was one of her main issues after her baby boy’s July birth. “It’s, like, either you’re not producing enough milk, or it’s too painful, or it’s too hard of a job because you feel like you have to be attached to the baby at all times.”

She added: “If you have a job, you want to get back to work after three months, it’s very hard to maintain.”

The True Whit author and her husband, Tim Rosenman, tied the knot in 2015 and welcomed their now 21-month-old son two years later.

“We’ve all heard mothers give the same speech about how life changing the love for your baby is, and it’s not like I didn’t believe it or anything, but I guess I couldn’t actually connect to those exact feelings until the doctor placed Sonny onto my chest,” the fashion designer wrote in a blog post when Sonny arrived. “I love him and feel protective over him, but more than anything, I’m just like obsessed. I can’t stop looking at him, or thinking about him when I am in another room.”
