Vanderpump’s Katie ‘Vowed to Make Changes’ After Weight Gain: ‘I Was Unlovable’

Katie Maloney is taking back the narrative when it comes to her body. The Vanderpump Rules star spoke out about being body-shamed for the last three years.

“Imagine finally finding the courage and strength to finally love yourself enough to stand up for yourself to then be ridiculed and torn down again,” Katie, 32, wrote on her Instagram Story on Thursday, March 21. “It took me 3 years. I was a very unhappy person. I took it out on everyone including myself. I was unlovable. I vowed to make changes. And I did.”

While the SUR waitress did not specifically address anyone, her costar James Kennedy calling her “fat” during an argument has been an ongoing storyline during season 7 of the Bravo series. Lala Kent and Lisa Vanderpump’s party planner, Kevin Lee, have also body-shamed Katie in past seasons.

“For the last 3 years I let MY BODY become a topic of conversation. I say ‘let’ because I didn’t have the courage or self love [to] argue it. FOR 3 YEARS,” Katie wrote on Thursday. “I’m not perfect. I know who I am. But I’m not a weak bitch.”

She concluded: “I am going to continue to grow and remind myself of my own strength. If that makes me a mean bitch in your eyes then so f–king be it! I’m remaining true.”

Earlier on Thursday, Katie clapped back at a troll who slammed her for going to Lisa over James’ remarks, which ultimately got the DJ fired from his gig at SUR.

“She did get James fired running to Lisa like the fat disgusting cry baby she is…” the Instagram user wrote in part. Alongside the screenshot, Katie wrote, “I mean… I might have a mean streak in me. But I’m not evil like this person. GFY.”

Vanderpump Rules airs on Bravo Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
