Both fathers of three! Thomas Rhett’s dad, Rhett Akins, became a father for the third time one month after his son welcomed his third daughter.
The 50-year-old country singer’s wife, Sonya Akins, gave birth to a baby boy named Brody on March 13. “Friday the 13th is a pretty magical day,” the 34-year-old captioned Instagram photos of the newborn earlier this month. “Our little angel arrived at 7:49 p.m. weighing 7.2lbs and 19 inches. He is perfect in every way!!!! Welcome Brody James Akins.”
Sonya continued gushing in another post. “My heart is about to explode!!” she wrote. “I’m so in love with our sweet baby boy!! Thank you lord for this precious gift that you have given our family!!”

Meanwhile, Thomas, 29, and wife Lauren Akins’ daughter Lennon arrived in February. “Lennon Love Akins was born at 8:30 AM on February 10th! It was such a joy to watch this little angel be brought into the world,” the “Die a Happy Man” crooner announced on Instagram at the time. “My wife is just incredible through the entire birth watching our kids meet Lennon for the first time was probably the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life! Ada James and Willa Gray are going to be the best big sisters on the planet. The Lord is so good and I’m so grateful for my beautiful growing family!! Y’all pray for us as we switch from man on man defense to zone.”
Lauren, for her part, raved: “Our early Valentine baby was born yesterday, February 10th and her sisters couldn’t be happier to finally get to kiss her little face Lennon Love Akins 9lbs 2oz of lovveeee with lots of dark hair and blue eyes we could not be more in love.”
Thomas and Lauren, who wed in October 2012, are also parents of Willa Gray, 4, and Ada James, 2.
Rhett shares Thomas and daughter Kasey, 27, with ex-wife Paige Braswell. He married Sonya in September 2017.
Sonya announced her pregnancy in September 2019 by referencing one of her stepson’s songs. As seen on her Instagram account, a chalkboard with a sonogram attached read: “Look what God gave us.”
