This Experience From Kate Middleton’s Childhood Had a Huge Impact on Her Parenting Style

Kate Middleton likes keeping her kids close, which is one reason you will often see her in the carpool line to pick up Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. In fact, the reason the royal kids may go to a day school instead of a boarding school in the first place may be influenced by something that happened in the Princess of Wales’ own childhood.

“The Prince and Princess of Wales have made it clear that their young family will, as far as possible, come first and that includes sending all three to day school, rather than having them as boarders away from home,” royal commentator Jennie Bond told OK!, per Marie Claire.

The reasoning has to do with Princess Kate’s past experience. “Catherine had a very unhappy time at Downe House in her first two terms and was bullied quite badly before she left and moved to Marlborough College,” Bond told the outlet. “This has completely influenced the way she wants her children to be educated, coupled with her belief and research into early years development,” Bond added.

We can completely understand Middleton wanting to have a different outcome for her own children, especially if her experience was so difficult.

In the past, the Prince and Princess of Wales thought about sending Prince George to boarding school, but they felt he was too young.

“Kate and William are open to sending George to boarding school in the future and have already checked out a few, but they feel eight is a little young and want to wait until he’s slightly older,” a source shared with Us Weekly in June 2021.

“George going to school is a decision the Cambridges will make as a family. They’d never force George to go unless he wants to and they feel it’s right.”
