It’s never too early to start thinking of a Mother’s Day gift for Gilmore Girls fans — and Sutton Foster just shared the perfect pick.
The Younger star posted a photo on her Instagram Thursday of herself and 22-month-old daughter Emily Dale in adorable matching T-shirts that read, “I’m her Lorelai” and “I’m her Rory” — a nod to the mother-daughter protagonists of the Amy Sherman-Palladino-led series that ran from 2000 to 2007.
Foster notably appeared as Violet on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the 2016 Netflix miniseries sequel to the dramedy that followed the adventures of young mother Lorelai Gilmore and her whip-smart daughter Rory from their town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, and beyond.
In her caption, Foster (who also starred in Sherman-Palladino’s series Bunheads) called her and her daughter the “Griffin Girls” in reference to her husband Ted Griffin, with whom Foster welcomed Emily in March of 2017. They will be celebrating her second birthday this year.

Foster opened up to PEOPLE last year about her fertility struggles, including her and her husband’s decision to look into adoption and how it all fell into place when Emily was finally born and became part of their family.
“I was always trying to make sense of why it wasn’t working,” she told PEOPLE about trying to conceive. “I always thought, there has to be a reason.”
“Now I realize Emily was so clearly meant to be our daughter,” mused the actress, 43. “She was the reason!”

There’s no doubt Foster’s relationship with her daughter will be similar to the close bond seen between Lorelai and Rory, as she told PEOPLE that it really felt like they had “found each other” when Emily was born.
The Tony winner made her appearance in the Netflix sequel to Gilmore Girls, Foster’s “favorite show of all time,” as a struggling actress, after Netflix told her they were writing in a part for the fangirl.
