Today is the day! Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been sworn in as President and VP, and really, the day couldn’t have come soon enough. We’re taking this moment to celebrate what this historic win means for the United States — getting this pandemic under control, fighting systemic racism, and tackling our climate crisis to name a few to-dos. And of course, clapping our hands alongside little girls everywhere for our country’s first-ever female Vice President.
For the first time, little girls — and little girls of color — will see themselves in the White House. Representation matters, and now that kids will have a woman of color as their Vice President, we hope they realize that nothing — certainly not gender or skin tone — limits what they can do or what dreams they can have. That’s not to say the next four years will be smooth sailing, but it’s a hopeful new beginning.
