Former Bachelor contestant Bekah Martinez didn’t jump up and down screaming with delight when she learned she was pregnant. The 23-year-old and her boyfriend, Grayston Leonard, were not trying to conceive a child.
“This wasn’t in the plan, so it wasn’t right away like a, ‘Oh my God, yes! This is so exciting, we’re going to have a baby!’” explained the season 22 alum in a YouTube video posted on Tuesday, September 25. “It was like, ‘Oh, wow . . .’” According to Martinez, the method of birth control she and the climbing gym owner were using “failed.”
The couple, who have been dating roughly seven months, have had some time to absorb the news though. Martinez is now 21 weeks along and due on January 29. “I feel really healthy and alive and I feel really dynamic and excited about everything,” the TV personality revealed. She is also happy that her baby bump has “popped.”
While Martinez will continue to provide fans with pregnancy updates, she will not be sharing the baby’s sex. “We’re not going to know until I push that little sucker out!” the reality star quipped. “You only have a surprise like this once in your life.”
The Bachelor Nation fan favorite announced earlier this month that she is expecting her first child. “It’s the one thing that I’ve known with certainty for so long,” she told PureWow. “I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of marriage and relationship, but I’ve always felt sure that I wanted to be a mom.”
