Slowing down. Sutton Foster has been having an “amazing” time hanging at home with her daughter, Emily, amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We go hiking and that’s sort of her education right now,” the Younger star, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, August 26, while promoting her Lactaid partnership. “We hardly ever turn the television on. It’s all about, ‘OK, let’s get outside. What can we find? What can we see?’”
The actress added that her 3-year-old is “just starting to get into coloring,” gushing, “She’s just incredibly imaginative and vocal. She’s sort of blossoming.”

After working with such “a busy schedule” pre-pandemic, the Georgia native said that it’s been “amazing” to be present during Emily’s big and small moments.
“Now we haven’t missed a wake up or a night night and we eat dinner,” Foster explained to Us. “[Going back to filming Younger season 7] will be hard cause we’ve now spent so much concentrated time together.”
The little one’s preschool program has been continuing virtually, which left her “confused,” the Tony winner went on to tell Us. “She’s now seeing her friends on the computer.”
While Foster’s 2020 goal was to come up with 10 recipes that her daughter likes, she joked that she’s now hit 50 during quarantine. “I’m cooking. … We’ve also been growing, like, 500,000 tomatoes,” the Broadway star said. “[Emily’s] picking tomatoes every day and jalapeños and cucumbers. We have this whole herb garden.”

The Bunheads alum also keeps Lactaid around the house, and her toddler loves that she works with Cookie Monster. “I was telling Emily, ‘Mommy’s going to be working with Cookie Monster. But we’re not going to be able to work in the same room,’” Foster told Us. “Cookie Monster sent my daughter a very special video just for her say to hello. It’s pretty cool. It’s been a wonderful perk.”
