Summer House’s Pregnant Ashley Wirkus: How I Finally Conceived

Pregnant Summer House star Ashley Wirkus and her husband of nearly three years, Brad McAtee, didn’t conceive on their first try. “Nothing happened for a few months,” Wirkus, 30, exclusively told Us Weekly. So the San Diego-based couple hopped on a plane, hoping the change of scenery would help things along.

“We went to Europe at the end of the summer,” the Bravo personality revealed. “And sure enough, being on vacation did it! I think relaxing and being off our normal daily routine really made a difference. Baby made in Italy!”

The former real estate agent surprised McAtee by taking a pregnancy test at home, and then shouting the results. “Brad came running up the stairs with the biggest smile on his face!” Wirkus gushed to Us. “We were so excited but shocked at the same time.”

Though the 6-foot-tall mom-to-be is relishing her pregnancy, she has been suffering from all-day nausea. “I am feeling good apart from the morning sickness that doesn’t seem to just last in the morning but sticks around,” she told Us. “I am hoping as I progress into my second trimester, I start to feel better and more like myself again.”

Wirkus and McAtee announced on Sunday, November 11, that they are expecting a baby boy. They broke the news by posting sweet photos from their gender-reveal party.

In June, Ashley and her identical twin sister, Lauren Wirkus, confirmed they would not be returning to the reality show for season 3. The series, which premiered in 2017, followed a group of friends who share a summer house in Montauk, New York.

“I have no idea what the future holds for my son, but if he wanted to do reality TV I would tell him what I learned from my experience and let him make his own decisions,” Wirkus explained to Us. “I definitely will show him the Hamptons and where mommy spent a lot of amazing fun summers with Auntie Lauren!”
