Starbucks Drops Two New Protein-Blended Cold Brew Flavors, and There's PEAS in the Mix?

Get that extra surge of energy and run to the nearest Starbucks ready because the coffee giant is serving Protein Blended Cold Brew nationwide starting TODAY! And thanks to that protein, you’ll recover from the workout quicker!

The drinks, which comes only in the Grande size (because honestly, when it comes to protein blends, you have to go big or go home), cost $5.95, and come in two flavors: almond and cacao. Both of the new menu items use vegan plant-based protein, which according to USA Today, is made out of peas and brown rice. Peas! In coffee!

In a statement, Starbucks announced that the drinks are “made with slow-steeped Starbucks Cold Brew, alternative milk and plant-based proteins for a delicious, non-dairy beverage that’s a good source of protein and keeps you going throughout the day.”


The Cacao Protein Blended Cold Brew also features, well, cacao powder, as well as coconut milk, and a banana date fruit blend. The Almond Protein Blended Cold Brew, meanwhile, is made with almond milk, almond butter, and that banana date fruit blend again.

The drinks are only available for a limited time in the US and Canada while supplies last; Bustle reports that they’ll be on the menu until the end of fall. So go and get your much-needed mega boost while you still can!
