The PenaVega family is growing!
Alexa PenaVega is pregnant and expecting her second child with husband Carlos, the couple revealed on social media Thursday.
“Holy Moly!!! Guys!!! We are having another baby!!!!” the 30-year-old Spy Kids actress captioned a family photo, featuring their 2-year-old son, Ocean, sleeping in his stroller. “Do we wake Ocean up and tell him??!!”
“Beyond blessed and excited to continue growing this family!!!” continued Alexa, who held a positive Clear blue pregnancy test in the snap. “Get ready for a whole new set of adventures!!! #ClearblueConfirmed #ClearbluePartner.”
Former Big Time Rush member Carlos also shared his excitement with fans on social media, where he shared a photo of the couple leaning in for a kiss as he held up the pregnancy test and Alexa held a photo of their sonogram on her phone.
“It’s HAPPENING… AGAIN! WE’RE HAVING ANOTHER BABY!!! 2019 another PenaVega is joining the family!” wrote Carlos, 29.
“This year we will officially be able to say we have ‘kids’! Our minds are blown and we are beyond blessed and excited for our growing family!!!” he shared. “Let the journey begin!!! #ClearbluePartner #ClearblueConfirmed.”
This will be the second child for Alexa and Carlos, who were married in January 2014. They are parents to son Ocean, whom they welcomed in December 2016.
Ahead of Ocean’s arrival, Alexa opened up about her difficulty conceiving.
“We tried to get pregnant for a good six months without luck. When it’s not working, you think, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ ” the former Nashville star told Fit Pregnancy and Baby for their December 2016/January 2017 issue.
“I struggled with an eating disorder when I was younger. It was a big part of my life, and I was worried that I wasn’t getting pregnant because of some long-term damage from what I’d put my body through,” she admitted. “Even though my doctor said I was healthy, I felt so guilty about it.”
Luckily, she came to terms with the feelings she was having, and was in a much better place as a result.
“It’s such an emotional ride, and you blame yourself for everything,” she said. “What brought me peace was my faith in knowing that it would happen when it was supposed to happen.”
Days before the pair announced the pregnancy, Alexa reflected on her marriage, faith and family.
“M A R R I A G E & F A M I L Y * This little team right here. What a gift from God we get to enjoy daily!!!” she captioned an Instagram photo of Carlos and Ocean.
“It Is something worth fighting for! Because It is something sacred! Going into year 6 of our marriage and year 3 of being parents (how have we been parents for two years?!?!) We are striving to be Consistent, intentional and impactful… in ALL areas of our lives!” she continued. “Here is to an AWESOME 2019 filled with LOVE , ADVENTURES, and getting to know GOD more than we ever have before!”
