Juice and crackers at Simon Cowell’s house! The America’s Got Talent judge — and dad of Eric, 4 — hopes Liam Payne’s 18-month-old son, Bear, will come by for a play date soon. “They definitely will,” Cowell told Us Weekly and other reporters at a live screening of the NBC competition series on Tuesday, September 4, in Los Angeles. “I would encourage it.”
The Brit, 58, shares Eric with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, while Payne, 25, and his ex Cheryl Cole, 35, are coparents of Bear.
Cowell is behind Payne’s mainstream success. The producer assembled wildly popular British boy band One Direction after Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson auditioned separately on X Factor in 2010. Though the group parted ways in 2015, the former American Idol judge is holding onto hope that they will get back together one day.
“Personally, I think they would enjoy it more the second time around because they haven’t got anything to prove,” Cowell told Us last month. “They done, they know there would be a demand for it.” If the guys never got back together, “I would be very unhappy,” he confessed. “With the amount of hits they’ve had, and because they’ve had time away, I think they’d probably enjoy it more than second time around. I just have that feeling.”
Meanwhile, Payne isn’t the only 1D member with a kid. Tomlinson, 26, has son Freddie, 2, with his ex-girlfriend Briana Jungwirth. In July 2017, Tomlinson told ITV, “I’m really excited about having Freddie and Bear in the same room. It’s gonna be cool.”
