Smooth sailing! Shahs of Sunset star Mercedes “MJ” Javid dished exclusively to Us Weekly about her pregnancy and revealed that she’s doing just fine.
“I feel great. I mean, I really feel very fortunate not to have any icky side effects right now in terms of nausea or morning sickness or fatigue or any of the difficult symptoms for the first trimester,” the reality star, 44, told Us on Thursday, October 18, at Evine’s L.A. studio launch party in West Hollywood.
“I feel really happy,” Javid added. “Of course, it was a little rough on the journey, doing the IVF stuff before, so I think I really paid the price back then, because this is so easy.”
The mom-to-be also opened up to Us in July about her decision to freeze her eggs prior to she and husband Tommy Feight’s April wedding.
“I really want all women who are single and 35 years old to run to their fertility doctors and get it done,” Javid told Us at the time. “I just think it’s really awful to wait and put it off until you’re over 40 because you’re just increasing your odds and you’re just making it harder for yourself and don’t worry about the costs and don’t worry about … it is a lot of hormones that can make us feel crazy.”
Javid added of the process: “The truth is that I have a lot of ups and downs, moment to moment, especially on the hormones from IVF stuff. You retain a lot of water. You feel really great one moment and then terrible another moment. That’s the reason why I share because, in my Instagram Stories for instance, I’ll say, ‘I don’t feel good today, but I want everyone else to know not to beat themselves up, to be kind to yourself and know that those days happen to everyone.’ Because that’s how we connect to people, is if you’re going through something and you and I share that, [that’s] how much we just closed the gap between the two of us.”
A source confirmed to Us earlier this month that Javid and Feight are expecting their first child.
The Bravo star told Us on Thursday that her pregnancy thus far has been “wonderful.” As for how Feight is feeling about the baby on board, Javid said that he “is so excited.”
The TV personality gushed: “He’s very nervous [and] happy. I think that his happiness elevates my happiness. His excitement for starting a family together is something that neither of us were willing to do until we met each other, found one another, found someone that we were willing and wanting to create a family with.”
She continued, “This new chapter is, like, something that I’m very excited about. I know it’s a lot of unknown and to be expected or unpredictable, but we just feel really excited to be privileged to be parents.”
