Rihanna Reveals the Fun Way She's Trying to Get 'Cool Points' With Her Kids

Rihanna is known for her amazing dance music (which has won her 9 Grammy Awards!), her bold fashion, and her inclusive cosmetics line Fenty Beauty, but her latest project is something her little boy and his soon-to-be sibling will appreciate. The “Lift Me Up” singer made a surprise appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last night, where she revealed a brand-new gig that she hopes will bring her “cool points” with her kids. All we can think is, um, duh! How could it not?

Rihanna appeared onstage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 27 to announce her big news: she is joining Paramount Pictures’ new The Smurfs Movie musical! (Now it makes sense why she was dressed head-to-toe in blue, complete with fabulous blue eyeshadow.)

“I’ll be playing Smurfette. I tried to get the Papa Smurf part, but it didn’t work out,” she said, per PEOPLE.

This isn’t the first time she’s dabbled in acting. She’s also lent her voice to the animated movie Home and appeared in Ocean’s Eight and Bates Motel among others.

I got just to be myself. I got to show up in my pajamas in my third trimester and play a little blue badass,” she said, per PEOPLE.

Rihanna added that she hopes she’ll get a “little bit of cool points” with her kids for being in this movie. You know it will!

In addition to playing Smurfette (the coolest character in the Smurfs universe, BTW), Rihanna will also be recording original music for the movie, which is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day 2025.

“I can’t wait for you guys to see how she’s been reimagined,” she continued, per PEOPLE. “The entire movie is going to be so fun. It’s so thrilling.”

If her baby reacts to The Smurfs Movie the same way he reacts to her music videos, then Rihanna will be in for a treat!
