‘Real Housewives’ star Meghan King Edmonds says son is rocking his brain damage therapy

Meghan King Edmonds’ mama pride is showing.

Last month, the former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star wrote a deeply emotional blog that revealed that one of her twin sons, Hart, was diagnosed with “irreversible brain damage.”

The mother of three wrote on her blog that she turned to her husband, former professional baseball player Jim Edmonds, and said, “we are not somehow compromised or punished for having a child with special needs (whatever that may or may not mean!), we are BLESSED.”

On Monday, Edmonds posted on Instagram that 14-month-old Hart continues to bless her with surprises.

“Hart stood today for the first time!” she wrote in her post. “And I’m not talking for a half second, he stood for almost a whole minute! My mom was there and got to see it and take pics and even a video of the end. Both his PT and OT were there (and this wasn’t during therapy).”

Both his PT and OT were there (and this wasn’t during therapy). Only a week into intensive therapy @napacenter and this boy’s development is exploding! (And so is my heart!) What a special and incredible moment! #gohartgo

Hart was diagnosed with minor periventricular peukomalacia on both sides of his brain, Edmonds explained on her blog, which puts her son at greater risk for cerebral palsy.

PVL occurs because brain tissue has been injured or has died, though it’s rarely possible to understand the cause, according to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Babies are at higher risk for cerebral palsy as they grow Babies born pre-term are at higher-risk. Treatments includes physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Edmonds continued her post by saying, “Only a week into intensive therapy @napacenter and this boy’s development is exploding! (And so is my heart!) What a special and incredible moment! #gohartgo”
