Nicole Richie's Daughter Harlow Looks Just Like Her Mom — & Aunt Sofia Richie — In Rare Photo

The family resemblance in the Richie clan is strong if Nicole Richie’s rare photo of their home life is any indication.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, The Simple Life alum shared a sweet snap of herself, her mother Brenda Harvey-Richie, her sister Sofia Richie, and her 15-year-old daughter Harlow Madden on her Instagram Story. She captioned the extremely rare family photo, “We all love you,” adding, “Happy Mothers Day Queen.”

The women stand gathered around Harvey-Richie with their arms around one another, and Harlow’s features are strikingly similar to her mom’s. What’s even more impressive is how much she also looks like her Aunt Sofia — who is Nicole’s sister by adoption.

The teen also seems to draw style inspiration from her 24-year-old aunt, considering her long blonde tresses, natural makeup, and outfit of elevated basics. Harlow wore a simple black long-sleeve shirt with loose beige cargo pants, matching the vibe of her mom and aunt, who wore black and white long-sleeve turtlenecks, respectively.

Showing how much her own style choices have evolved, Nicole also shared a throwback photo of herself and her mother wearing matching retro outfits and hairstyles. She funnily captioned the vintage moment, “Thank you for making sure our fits were right & tight for all of the 80s.”

The newly married Richie isn’t the only woman in the family Harlow finds fashionable. During a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Nicole revealed her teen “takes my clothes all the time.” The House of Harlow designer added, “I have just started writing an ‘N’ with a Sharpie on all of my stuff so that [she knows it’s mine].”

The mom of two explained the style dynamic between herself and Harlow, sharing, “She’s wearing my current clothes now, she’s just like, ‘What do you have? That’s what I want. I’m taking it.’ And then I got to go in her closet, steal it back.”

Potentially not giving herself enough credit as a muse, Richie said, “My daughter loves fashion, but she has her own style. It doesn’t have anything to do with me.” She certainly can’t say the same of Harlow’s lookalike facial features!

Nicole Richie was adopted by Lionel Richie and Brenda Harvey-Richie when she was 9 years old, though she had been living with them since she was a toddler. She got an older brother in Miles Richie when she was 13, and a little sister in Sofia at age 17.

Despite their nearly two-decade age gap, the two Richie girls have a close bond. While they usually keep their private relationship away from the public eye — a clear preference of Nicole’s when it comes to her family — the 41-year-old fashion designer made her love for her sister clear in an Instagram post celebrating the 24-year-old’s nuptials.

Alongside a photo of the two women beaming at one another as Nicole crouches on the floor to adjust the train of Sofia’s wedding dress, the older of the two simply wrote, “I love you more than anything 🤍👰‍♀️”

In addition to 15-year-old Harlow, Richie also shares 13-year-old son Sparrow with her husband, Joel Madden. The former reality star married the Good Charlotte singer in 2010, and the two have pretty fervently shielded their kids from the public eye from birth.

During a 2017 interview with Rashida Jones for Refinery29, Richie explained why she and Madden have opted to be private in regard to their family. “It’s extremely important to us for our kids to be kids, to have a full-blown childhood,” she said.

Richie added, “Not that there’s anything wrong with taking your kids here and there, and sometimes we do and that’s really fun, but family and togetherness and just developing a strong closeness and trust with our kids right now, especially at this age, is the most important thing to us.”
