Mom of Three Kate Hudson Jokes She Wants to Turn 40 with a 'Really Good Hangover' After Baby

Kate Hudson is not holding back on her plans to treat herself when she turns 40 later this month.

The actress and mother of three stopped by Good Morning America on Thursday for a chat with Michael Strahan, where she opened up about her new Happy x Nature clothing line and her plans for her upcoming birthday.

“At this point, I just want to tell everybody, ‘Hey, I’m gonna have a party,’ and then everybody shows up,” Hudson said of her low-key bash plans.

But even though the fanfare might not be over the top, the star doesn’t plan to hesitate in rewarding herself six months after becoming a mom to daughter Rani Rose — almost seven years after last experiencing the newborn phase with her middle child, 7½-year-old son Bingham Hawn.

“I personally, with having a baby, feel like I deserve a really good hangover,” she joked. “I’ve been so good, I’ve been so busy. I’ve been breastfeeding like crazy and I just want some martinis. I want to sleep in. [That’d be] really nice.”

Hudson told Strahan that being a mom to a daughter after two sons (Bing and his older brother Ryder Russell, 15) is “starting to feel different” as Rani — her first child with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa — gets bigger.

“Seeing the boys with her … I feel like I tear up every day,” she admitted. “To see [Ryder] with his sister and to be a real helper and for me to be able to walk away and go, ‘Hey, honey, can you just take the baby?’ And I turn around and I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh.’ “

“I’ve been having babies a long time, let’s put it that way,” Hudson joked. “But it’s good. Everyone’s so happy and I feel, right now … even though it’s chaotic, the energy is calm and loving and peaceful right now and I’m just in a great place.”

Strahan, himself a father of four, then asked the actress and Fabletics co-founder if her boys consider her a “cool mom” — to which Hudson replied, “I hope so!”

But that hope does have one hilarious caveat. “I think when they want something, I’m definitely the cool mom,” she said, laughing.

“I was so young when I had Ryder … it’s a different relationship than I think I even have with Bing,” Hudson explained. “We’ve almost grown up together — good or bad, whatever that is gonna end up reflecting as in the future — but I think I’m cool until I start singing too much and then I’m not cool.”

“My 7-year-old … the other day, I was singing, and slowly but surely I saw the dial on the volume on the television go to 50,” she recalled. “He just drowned me out with the television!”
