Twinsies! Mindy Kaling and her 12-month-old daughter, Katherine “Kit,” are waiting for Santa Claus in PJs.
The Mindy Project alum, 39, shared a photo of herself and the toddler sporting identical Eiffel Tower-inspired Bedhead Pajamas on Monday, December 24. In the snap, a barefoot Kaling is seen smiling brightly at the camera, while Kit stares out a window. (The Ocean’s Eight actress has never shown her baby’s face on social media.)
Kaling’s got into the holiday spirit with celebrity-themed decorations that she shared with fans via Instagram on Saturday. Standouts included the “Chris Pine Tree” — a Christmas tree covered in pictures of Chris Pine — and a Ginger-Fred Armisen ornament. In her caption, the Kaling explained that the “punny” decor was inspired by a 2014 episode of The Mindy Project, in which her character debuted the Wreath Witherspoon in honor of Reese Witherspoon.
In June, Kaling opened up about life as a single mother while delivering a commencement speech at her alma mater Dartmouth College.
“After my daughter was born in December, I remember bringing her home and being in my house with her for the first time and thinking, ‘Huh. According to movies and TV, this is traditionally the time when my mother and spouse are supposed to be here, sharing this experience with me,’” she told the crowd. “And I looked around, and I had neither. And for a moment, it was kind of scary. Like, ‘Can I do this by myself?’”
The moment of panic quickly passed. “That feeling went away, because the reality is, I’m not doing it by myself,” Kaling revealed. “I’m surrounded by family and friends who love and support me. And the joy I feel from being with my daughter Katherine ellipses anything from any crazy checklist.”
