Mom still knows best when it comes to pop superstar Miley Cyrus’ hairstyle.
Tish Cyrus, the “Wrecking Ball” artist’s mom, shared a video that showed her cutting her famed daughter’s hair. The clip shows Miley’s mom cutting just the ends of her locks, but the 27-year-old singer debuted a much more drastic look to her social media page. Neither detailed how far mom Tish went with the cut before turning over the reigns to Cyrus’ stylist.
“Giving @mileycyrus a little B-day haircut!!,” Tish captioned the video and hashtagged it #staytuned #itsgood.
The singer celebrated her 27th birthday on Nov. 23 by spending time with her boyfriend Cody Simpson and her family.

Miley didn’t reveal the final look until days later when she shared a photo to her Instagram Story. Her hair was much shorter .
Hairstylist Sally Hershberger shared the photo of Cyrys to her own Instagram account and captioned it: “Punk Vibe.”

One person behind a Miley Cyrus fan page account criticized Hershberger’s work, calling it the “worst haircut” and prompting a reply from the stylist.
“This is the worst haircut I’ve ever laid my eyes on u call urself a hairstylist ? now this is gonna be all over TMZ and the news plus the locals that don’t like Miley are gonna think she’s going through a meltdown again why can’t we ever win gonna go cry now bye! That was all,” @mileysgem wrote.
Another person who goes by the handle @zoeantonio on Instagram wrote: “It’s a nope from me… yikes.”
A few other people showed their love for Hershberger’s handiwork singing praises for the artist’s new ‘do.
“That is crazy pretty,” wrote @katiebrownworkshop.
Hershberger replied to @mileysgem comment and said the singer’s hairstyle was a “modern mullet.”
“First of all if you knew anything about hair, it’s the position she’s in that’s why it looks that way, it’s 100 percent even and she also had it straightened so it’s more severe, which I actually like,” Hershberger wrote on Instagram.”That being said, chill out and know it’s a modern mullet, which is very cool but it’s something you probably aren’t even well-versed in sorry but not sorry.”
Earlier this year, Beyoncé made headlines when her mom shared a video getting ready to trim the icon’s hair.
Tina Lawson showed off the singer’s “au naturale” hair on Instagram in July during a cute interaction between the mother-daughter duo.
In the video, Lawson combs through her daughter’s waist-length mane, showing off Beyoncé’s roots to prove to any cynics that there are no extensions in place.
“I was trimming my baby’s hair today,” Lawson captioned the video. “Getting on her nerves! Being really annoying.”
