Looking good! Kate Beckinsale posted a stunning Instagram picture on Wednesday, July 18, showing off her supersculpted legs and arms in nothing but a leotard with a sheer overlay. Now, her longtime trainer, Gunnar Peterson, tells Us Weekly how she got so buff.

“When she’s in town, she’s five to six days a week and she’s no joke,” he says. “I mean, she’s definitely a do-your-own sets, do-your-own stunts kind of girl. She gets through it. She can do it with a poker face. But she is working.”

Beckinsale admitted to Shape in 2016 that she pushes herself hard in her workout sessions with the fitness guru: “I start out absolutely dreading it, do an incredibly punishing workout, bitch about it the whole time, and end up feeling 100 percent better when I leave.”

The Underworld actress has worked with Peterson for five years and is a regular at his Beverly Hills studio. She gave him a shoutout on social media on Monday, July 16, with a video clip that showed her doing a cute dance while wearing an “I’m Feeling G Today” sweatshirt with a black bikini bottom. She captioned it: “Oh, @gunnarfitness, hitting your ladies with the sick merch.”

Peterson says getting his clients, who also include Khloé Kardashian and Rebel Wilson, in shape comes down to a lot of hard work: “We take the approach that everybody’s an athlete.”

The G-Force author’s HIIT-based workouts are known for being tough yet effective when it comes to calorie burn, fat loss and hearth health. He tells Us that he’ll focus on combining HIIT with compound movements such as “a pushup with a T-raise where you rotate your body right into a squat so there’s upper body and lower body. Then we go into a standing ab movement with a band so there’s core. Then we put a high intensity interval in. Then we repeat.”

“I combine a number of elements from different training approaches. But I’d say the basis of it is peripheral heart action,” the trainer explains to Us. “It’s about forcing the blood to go from upper extremity to lower extremity sequentially, so that you elicit a response from the heart rate.”

Although Peterson is proud of the effort that all of his A-listers (Beckinsale included) put into every sweat session, he says what he loves the most is their positive attitude both in and out of the gym. “Not that they don’t have their real moments, their down moments,” he notes. “But the fact that they’re so focused on the positive and on the next thing they do or create? I love that.”
