The Love & Death actor opened up to Access Hollywood about watching his girlfriend as a mom, and it’s so sweet.

“Oh God, it’s so cool. She is so good at it,” he said. “You know, it’s like all the qualities that I love Kaley about times 100. She’s so funny and she’s so nurturing and easy and playful and loving…I mean, so loving. You know, it’s beautiful.”

Aww! What a supportive boyfriend, we love it! But The Flight Attendant star isn’t the only one he’s obsessed with: his daughter Matilda already stole his heart, too.

When asked on a scale of 1-10 how much he is already wrapped around his 3-week-old baby’s finger, Pelphrey answered, “Eleven.”

The Ozarks star opened up about his reaction seeing his daughter for the first time in the hospital. “I just got chills again,” he said. “My heart was full. I was just so grateful.”

“It’s just wild,” he continued. “I think you’re almost in a state of like happy shock. And then you wake up the next morning, and you’re like, wait, yeah, that’s ours!”

Pelphrey also admitted he’s “excellent” at swaddling and changing diapers. “I was surprised how natural it felt,” he told Access about being a dad. “Like being around my nieces and other babies in my family was always a little bit, like, scared to hold them, scared to touch them, didn’t want to break them…As soon as they handed me Matilda, I felt comfortable holding her, I felt comfortable moving her around and changing her and that was surprise.”

  • The Name Matilda Has a Special Meaning

In his interview with Access, Pelphrey explained how they chose the name Matilda for their daughter.

“Kaley and I, we chose the name together, we loved Matilda long before she joined us,” Pelphrey explained. “And then I played for Kaley the Tom Waits’ song ‘Tom Traubert’s Blues (Four Sheets to The Wind in Copenhagen).’ And in that song, his chorus is a version of ‘Waltzing Matilda.’ So I’ve loved that song since I was 17, 16 years old. Played it for Kaley, she started crying.”

And then a really cool, full-circle moment happened. “Actually, the day we ended up going to the hospital, I was driving home from work and as I was pulling up to the house, that song came on the playlist.” How special is that?
