Jonathan Scott Says He May Adopt as a Single Dad

He’s looking for his dream woman but if he doesn’t find her soon, Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott plans to adopt a child. In an exclusive interview with People, the reality TV star and producer said that he wants to have children by the time he’s 45, regardless of whether or not he’s found a partner. Scott, who recently celebrated his 41st birthday in Mexico, has been single for a year — but he hasn’t given up on love just yet.

“I’ve dated a lot in my life, and I’ve dated every kind of person you can imagine,” Scott told the outlet. “I I just want to be around people who bring energy and when you walk away you feel good about yourself and good about them. That’s it. The other people, I don’t need them.”

Although there are perks to the single life, Scott is ready to settle down and start a family. “I’m very blessed in a lot of ways,” he said. “I can buy what I want and I can go anywhere in the world. But at the end of the day, coming home to that one person that you know has your back, there’s no better feeling.”

In fact, single ladies take note, because he’s on the lookout for “sexy, cool, courageous women.” We know you fit the bill, so if Scott is your type and you’re hoping to have kids soon, we’re just sayin’ that he may like to meet you.

One of the main things Scott is looking for in a partner is someone who is as eager to be a parent as he is. “I want to be a dad, so it’s important for me to have a partner who would play a key role in that,” he explained. “When we film our shows I get along so great with the kids, and I like the idea that I can use what I believe to be good to shape the mind of a little human.”

And if he doesn’t find his soulmate by the time he’s 45? Scott’s got a plan for that, too. “I have said to myself that if I don’t find the right person I think I would probably adopt on my own, because I think I would be a great dad.”

We agree, and we love that Scott is considering adopting rather than settling just for the sake of having kids with a partner. He’ll make a wonderful dad, whether he’s single or married.
