Jessie James Decker: I Don’t Think About My Body After Having Kids

Over it! Jessie James Decker revealed exclusively to Us Weekly that she is done caring about her post-baby body.

“I just don’t honestly think about it. As soon as I had kids … Whenever they’re babies like that, you just don’t think about it … I mean, I don’t personally because it’s not a priority,” the 30-year-old Eric & Jessie star told Us on Wednesday, September 19, while partnering with John Hancock Vitality. “My priority is to take care of them and feed them and get as much sleep as possible. It’s just my mindset doesn’t go there. I just, why bother? Your body is trying to just come back together from just having a human being taken out of [it] … You’ve got to have some time to heal.”

However, Decker hasn’t given up her visits to the gym. “I definitely work out, like, at least twice a week if I can, hardcore. Three times if I have the time,” she noted. “But, you know, I’m lifting 40, 50-pound bodies every single day, so it is a workout and so I am chasing after them all the time. I mean, there will be days that I’ve done three miles … not on purpose because I’m just always on the go.”

The country singer and her husband, Eric Decker, welcomed their third child, son Forrest, in March. The couple are also parents of Vivianne Rose, 4, and Eric Jr., 3.

The reality star called Eric her “core support system at home,” but she relies on her mother’s influence and help as well. “I just go back to how she was as a mother,” she explained. “She did so little and did so much. Like, I never felt unloved. I never felt not taken care of. I felt like I had anything and everything I ever needed and wanted. And she had so little. And so, I always think about, when things feel like they’re getting hard or overwhelming, she did it all. And I’m so fortunate. And if she can pull it together, so can I.”

Jessie also opened up about her and the 31-year-old former NFL player’s commitment to their down-to-earth life, which includes cooking dinner for her family every night. “We built really great careers, but the thing is, Eric and I both came from such humble beginnings. We really did. I mean, our expectations are very, very modest. We like nice quality things, but we also … our comfort levels are the way we grew up,” she told Us. “So we are rolling to Cracker Barrel constantly. And Olive Garden is where I want to be taken for Mother’s Day. … We are very normal people, and we make our Target and Walmart trips and it’s a comfort. It’s not that we’re trying to stay normal. It’s just that that’s what feels good to us because we grew up that way and we don’t plan on ever straying from that lifestyle.”
