Jennifer Garner Recounts Scary Incident With Daughter Violet

Jennifer Garner and her 12-year-old daughter, Violet, have a memory to last a lifetime! Back in August, the Peppermint actress and her oldest child jetted off to Stockholm, Sweden, to learn about its culture. While wandering around the city, the duo noticed tourists kayaking in a river and decided to rent a boat. Sounds fun, right?

The travelers set off on a loop that was supposed to take just 10 minutes, but an hour later they were still paddling.

“And not only that, all of the sudden, there were huge bridges going over us, and there were, like, big boats . . . and then Violet said, ‘Mom, there’s a stoplight in the water,’” Garner recalled during the Wednesday, September 5, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And through that stoplight, it’s a loch to the ocean. And so then, we start feeling a current pulling us to the ocean.”

Just as the 46-year-old Alias alum was starting to panic, a handsome man named Mattias saved the day. “Suddenly, we saw this blonde human, with the sun behind him like a halo, and he was coming to our rescue,” she explained. “He showed up and he led us back. I’ll never forget Mattias. He saved us. He did.”

Garner shared a photo from their kayaking adventure in August. “On a pre-middle-school sneak away with my eldest,” she wrote. “Did I get us lost in a kayak? Yes. Did we paddle as hard as we could for 100 hours and end up in a shipping lane? I’m afraid so. Did we have to be rescued? Yup.” In her hashtags, she gave Mattias a shout-out!

The Mother’s Day star shares Violet, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6, with ex-husband Ben Affleck. The former couple tied the knot in 2005 and separated in 2015.
