Jenna Bush Hager wrote a sweet remembrance about “Gampy,” former President George H.W. Bush, a year after his death.
The “Today” show co-host, 38, wrote that the Bush patriarch, who died Nov. 30, 2018, at age 94, “is gone but he left behind a family that loves each other.”
Hager shared throwback photos of herself and twin sister Barbara with their Grandpa on Instagram over the holiday weekend. One picture was of the twins looking over their grandfather’s headstone. “One year yesterday, we lost our Gamps,” she wrote.
“We talked yesterday about how much we love him and each other,” she continued. “He showed us that serving with humility is the best way to serve and that living with kindness and generosity of spirit is the best way to live. We miss you Gampy, but as Mila said yesterday: don’t worry mama, he’s celebrating in heaven with Ganny.”

After her grandfather died, Hager lamented in an interview with NBC News that it happened before Christmas. Her daughter Mila overheard and spoke up.
Mila said: “Well, of course it’s happening right before Christmas. Gampy had to get to Ganny so they could decorate their Christmas tree.”
