Since announcing the arrival of baby girl No. 2, Hope Catherine, on Tuesday’s episode of the Today show, Hoda Kotb has received thousands of congratulatory messages and well-wishes from her fans on social media.
She shared a heartfelt tweet Wednesday afternoon — her first social-media post since revealing her news — thanking her 1.25 million followers for their support.
“Hi … just a note to say thank you … for all the love. I am reading every single one of your messages … every single one … my heart is bursting,” wrote Kotb, 54, concluding with three red heart emojis.
The Today co-anchor, who adopted 2-year-old Haley Joy in February 2017, hinted at her news on Monday by sharing a photo of the words “CHOOSE HOPE” to her Instagram account before making the official announcement during a phone call in to Tuesday’s episode.
“It’s a girl! And her name is Hope!” Kotb said, with her co-hosts wiping back tears after hearing the news and pure happiness in their colleague’s voice following the adoption.

“We want you to enjoy every single moment,” said Jenna Bush Hager, who made her 10 a.m. Today debut alongside Kotb just last week. “I know we just started a new show but you know what, who cares?! I’m not worried about it!”
An emotional Savannah Guthrie encouraged Kotb to take her time coming back to work, insisting that “the show will be here” and even asking if the new mom of two needed any baby necessities.
And the Today show personalities wasted no time following up on their offer. Guthrie, 47, and Bush Hager, 37, “raced over” to meet baby Hope — before officially asking her mama!
“We probably weren’t invited. I texted her and I’m like, ‘We are on our way,’ ” Bush Hager joked on Wednesday’s episode of Today. “We went over and we saw … baby Hope … and that precious Haley who was so in awe of her baby sister. It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Bush Hager raved about the sisterly bond between Haley and her new sibling — and Guthrie even posted an adorable selfie of the whole crew to her Instagram account on Wednesday morning, captioning it, “Holding on to dear Hope! The joy and gratitude of @hodakotb makes my heart sing ❤️”
“The fact that [Haley and Hope] wanted to be so close to each other, this is what Hoda’s prayed for,” Bush Hager — herself a mom of two girls — said on Wednesday.
“She actually has prayed for a baby sister for Haley because [Hoda] and her sister are so close, so to have this … ” she trailed off with a smile.
