Jana Kramer and Husband Slam 'Trolls' Shaming How They Sleep Train Their Son: 'Leave Us Alone'

Jana Kramer and her husband Mike Caussin are shooting back at critics questioning the way they’ve chosen to sleep train their 8-week-old son, Jace Joseph.

The couple — who welcomed their baby boy on Nov. 29 and are also parents to daughter Jolie Rae, 3 on Thursday — responded to shamers in a series of videos on Kramer’s Instagram Story Tuesday.

Trouble began when Kramer, 35, posted a photo of Jace, celebrating the fact that he’s been sleeping seven hours a night.

“We are sleep training him using Baby Wise,” she explained, referencing the method outlined in the Christianity-based infant-management book of the same name by Gary Ezzo and pediatrician Robert Bucknam. “What methods did you mommas use?”

That question prompted a sea of responses, with many saying that “Baby Wise is the cry-it-out method” and “dangerous” for an infant, according to Kramer.

Reading those responses bothered her. “All right, trolls. I’m talking to you guys,” Kramer said on her Instagram Story, turning to Caussin. “Do we let Jace scream and cry and not feed him?”

“Oh, ’cause you guys live here and know that we let him scream and cry?” the former NFL player, 31, shot back. “We don’t let him scream and cry!”

Kramer agreed. “We do not let him scream and cry. I don’t even technically know with babies this age that you’re allowed to let them self-soothe,” she said. “When he cries, we feed him, okay? And if it’s not time for him to eat yet, we give him a wubbie.”

“We don’t just let him scream and cry. So get off my page,” Kramer hit back. “Stop being trolly. We’re taking very good care of our baby. He looks pretty happy to me. I think he does.”

“If Baby Wise didn’t work for you guys, well, I’m really sorry it didn’t work for you,” she continued. “We have tweaked it a little bit to work for our schedule, but it’s working for us. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. [But] we’re not making him scream his brains off.”

The couple both ended their rant by telling their critics to mind their own business. “Back off! Leave us alone,” said Caussin. “Do you, let us do us!”

Added Kramer, “Do you, boos. We’re doing us.”

This isn’t the first time Kramer has addressed critics since giving birth to her son. Earlier this month, the country singer and One Tree Hill alum discussed her choice to not breastfeed — and the reactions she has received because of it — on an episode of her Whine Down with Jana Kramer podcast.

“It’s just frustrating when women [are told] breast milk is the best,” Kramer said. “I understand that — [they] don’t need to tell me something that I [already] know. But I also don’t need to explain to [them] why it’s either not working or we’re not doing it or we chose not to. I don’t know why we feel like we have to explain.”

“I feel like I have to hide the bottle when I’m in public because people are judging me. I feel judged,” added the “I Got the Boy” singer, revealing that she was not breastfed as a child.

Caussin supported his wife. “I actually don’t even think we should or need to [explain] because then it’s like you feel like you have to defend why we’re not,” he said. “We’re the only two people that matter in this entire situation.”

In June, Kramer opened up to PEOPLE about how the couple endured three miscarriages and two chemical pregnancies before conceiving naturally following a failed IVF cycle and subsequent loss that February.

“Being a mom has changed me in so many ways. I had zero patience before kids,” she said. “I love singing, I love acting, I love doing my podcast and creating things, but being a mom is what truly fulfills me. It is the best part of my day, even though it’s the most stressful.”
