How Ashley Graham Got Those Abs She Flashed at the ‘Glamour’ WOTY Awards

Ashley Graham has got an enviable bod — and she knows exactly how to show it off! At the 2018 Glamour Women of the Year Awards in NYC on Monday, November 12, the stylish model walked the red carpet in lime green pants and a white crop top with a flowing sash. Peeping out in between the separates: the tiniest sliver of her tight abs.

Graham is known for her dedication to her workouts. As a devotee of NYC’s exclusive Dogpound gym — famous for high-intensity workouts and its boxing ring — the 31-year-old pushes herself with barbells, rowing machines, Bosu balls and more. She even took her tough workout outside this July in downtown Manhattan!

The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model has also tried plenty of other workouts, including Anna Kaiser’s AKT In Motion. “The first time I went to Anna’s class, I felt like Beyonce,” Graham has said.

At the Dogpound, her trainer Dawin Pena, who’s also the gym’s co-founder, puts her through workouts fit for an athlete. “Ashley is a busy woman,” Pena told Women’s Health in 2017. “But that doesn’t mean she can’t get in a great workout in a short amount of time. Generally we do weights with a high rep count and some calisthenics in between to get her heart rate up.”

She’s got moves specifically for her bikini-ready abs too. Last December, Graham posted an Instagram video of her — and her mother! — doing one of her favorite six-pack tightening exercises: the plank knee twist on a Bosu ball. To perform the move, which targets obliques, you start in a plank position with your hands on a Bosu ball, then bring your right knee to your left elbow while keeping your core tight. You then switch sides to bring your left knee to your right elbow, while maintaining the plank, and repeat multiple times.

All the hard work really pays off for the author of A New Model. As she told Us Weekly at the party celebrating her 2016 Sports Illustrated cover, it gives her the confidence to show skin — a lot of skin. “For me, on my body, the smaller the bikini the better,” she said when asked what style swimsuit she prefers. “I feel like I look better naked, so the smaller the bikini, the less that is covering this hot body.”
