Haylie Duff: Why Pregnant Sis Hilary Will Have an Easier Time With Two Kids

Going from one to two kids has been an admittedly “tough” transition for Haylie Duff. But the Real Girl’s Kitchen host, who shares daughters Ryan, 3, and 2-month-old Lulu with her fiancé Matt Rosenberg, suspects her pregnant sister Hilary Duff will have an easier go of it.

While Haylie’s girls are still dependent on her and Rosenberg for most things, Hilary’s son Luca, 6, is more self-sufficient. (Luca’s dad is the Younger star’s ex-husband, Mike Comrie. Hilary is expecting a baby girl, with boyfriend Matthew Koma.) “Hilary’s set of troubles is going to be different,” Haylie, 33, told Us Weekly on Monday August, 13. “Luca is old enough to help himself into bed, whereas Ryan can’t do those things. Luca is really loving his independence now.”

The chef, who recently partnered with Smithfield Marinated Fresh Pork, added that Luca will able to help Hilary, 30, hold the baby. “Hilary’s experience will be different [than mine.],” Haylie explained. “With my second . . . I can’t take a nap or read a book. You still have to take care of another child.”

While Haylie’s older daughter hasn’t yet reached the independent phase, she loves helping her mom in the kitchen. “Ryan loves to cook with me,” Haylie told Us. “She’ll stand there and peel carrots for the Smithfield meat. It’s such a fun activity. I don’t let her slice, but peeling is OK. It’s great motor skill work.”

Ryan doesn’t do aprons. “She’s into anything princess right now,” the Napoleon Dynamite actress told Us. “So her cooking outfit is usually a princess dress.”
