It’s National Siblings Day today, which is actually a pretty appropriate time for us to talk about this week’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians. This is not because of the Kardashian sisters’ recent drama, but because of a dilemma Khloé Kardashian is facing at the moment: whether she needs to act now to make sure baby True will one day have a brother or sister on her mom’s side.
At first, this took the form of Kris Jenner going overboard to try to get her daughter dating again. Khloé broke up with True’s dad, Tristan Thompson, over a year ago, and hasn’t been seeing anyone since. That’s totally understandable given how hard it must be to trust relationships after being cheated on, and also how hard it is to date when you’ve got a toddler.
“It’s crazy that some people find being single, healing and happy is a negative,” Kardashian tweeted during the episode on Thursday night. “Lol I literally am so chillin right now. I’m focused on loving my baby girl. Life is beautiful.”
This family and their constant concern for what happens in Khloe’s uterus is too much. When she was married to Lamar Odom, she actually had to pretend that she was trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant, though she just didn’t want to have a baby at the time. Now, at least, she feels she can be more open about what she wants.
But while she might not want to date random men her mom finds for her at sporting goods stores and golf courses (really!), Kardashian is considering other measures to have another baby … eventually. This came out in a conversation with best friend Malika Haqq.
“The truth is, I had a lot of siblings; you had a lot of siblings,” Haqq said. “You just have to really ask yourself, ‘Is this something that I want to secure because I want to make sure and know for sure that True will never have to experience being alone [or] not having the support system that you’ve survived off of?’ ”
At this point, we do want to interject an opinion: True will be absolutely fine if her mom decides not to have another child. Only children thrive all the time out there — especially if they are surrounded by close cousins and other family members. She also does have an older brother, Prince, on her dad’s side.
But anyway, Kardashian knows she doesn’t have to date to make that happen. She finally agreed with Haqq that freezing her eggs might be a good backup plan.
“I decided that I am going to freeze my eggs,” she told Jenner. “Just one, to get you off my back, but because there’s no downside to it, so why not?”
At 35 years old, Kardashian will have an easier time of harvesting and freezing healthy eggs than if she waits longer, but this is still not a guaranteed thing. Then again, neither is dating!
If she does freeze her eggs, Kardashian could get advice from any of these celebrities who have shared their stories of infertility.
