It’s no secret that Jenna Bush Hager is a proud Southern gal, but that doesn’t mean she necessarily needs her kids to be that way as well. Despite being Texas-proud, Hager has had a great time living in New York with her family. However, some passionate fans decided to take it upon themselves and ensure her kids would also be, truly, Texas-proud.
During the Sept 15 episode of the NBC morning show, the Everything Beautiful in Its Time author revealed that fans sent her some, erm, pretty insane gifts so she could ensure her children would be born on “Texas soil” despite living in New York.
Hager told co-host Hoda Kotb: “You know that somebody actually sent my mom Texas dirt to be put under the bed when I delivered my children so that they could be born on Texas soil in New York City?”
That’s definitely a first. And we have one more question: did she actually use it?! Either way, it’s definitely a unique pregnancy story we’re sure she talked about at dinner parties!

While many know Hager’s father, former US President George W. Bush, was the 46th governor of Texas, Hager’s mother Laura was born in Midland, Texas, and she and her twin sister Barbara Bush were born in Dallas, Texas.
Jenna met her husband Henry Chase Hager during the 2004 presidential campaign, and three years later, they got engaged. They wed in a private ceremony on May 10, 2008, at her parents’ Prairie Chapel Ranch, in, you guessed it, Texas.
